2. The role of the Holy Spirit is to counsel.
John 16:12-15

Are you going through something you need wisdom for? Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you. If nothing jumps out at you as a major issue, ask yourself the question: how would my life be different today if I followed the guidance of the Holy Spirit in every situation?

Devotional 1 for Week 7 of txt (the Holy Spirit)

The passages of Scripture we studied on Sunday are speak so strongly that it would be a great thing for us to go back through them this week. We’ll begin with the first point from Sunday’s message and work our way through.

The role of the Holy Spirit is to convict.
John 16:5-11

These verses speak to us about being made aware of our sin, our own attempts to be righteous, and the judgment that is coming. Are you fully aware of your sin? Are you absolutely sure you have trusted in Christ as your Savior? Take some time to wrestle through that today and to thank Jesus for offering His life.

Devotional 3 for Week 6 of txt (Male Leadership)

Much of what we’ve talked about this week is about leadership. Take some time today to think clearly about the need for leadership in our country. Pray specifically for our leaders in America, in our state, and in our counties. Also, I’d be humbled if you’d pray for me and the leadership of our church.

Devotional 2 for Week 6 of txt (Male Leadership)

1 Corinthians 16:13-14
These short verses speak clearly about masculinity. Take some time to think through the following phrases:
-Be watchful.
-Stand firm in the faith.
-Let everything you do be done in love.

Where in your life could you apply these ideas?

Devotional 1 for Week 6 of txt (Male Leadership)

We continue this week with some devotional readings and thoughts from the messages from our series at Arrowhead called txt. If you’re not familiar with what we’re doing, I’ll post 3 times (this is the first) this week to give you some Scripture to read and some questions to ask dealing with the topic of the message from Sunday. Here we go…

Ephesians 5:22-33
What does this passage teach about the role of men and women? The teaching clearly isn’t a view that men are higher or better than women, but it does speak clearly about roles. What is the analogy used to speak of these roles in these verses?

Devotional 1 for Week 5 of txt (Bearing Fruit)

txt is a series at Arrowhead Church where we are dealing with some of the core theological and practical issues we value as a church. Each week of the series, I am posting 3 short devotionals dealing with the topic from the previous Sunday. This post is the first of 3 dealing with life change and bearing fruit.

In the Old Testament, King David was a powerful king who won victories for God in his personal life and in his military and government leadership. There were times when he was close to God and times when he was far away. This week we’ll look at a time of victory, a time of failure, and a time of coming back to God.

1 Samuel 17
In this passage a young David kills the giant Goliath. How was he able to bear this fruit for God. (See especially verses 34-37 and 45.)

Devotional 3 for Week 4 of txt (Hearing from God)

Matthew 7:24-27
God’s Word provides a solid foundation, and yet many times we don’t build our lives upon it. Read these verses. What is God saying to you about the foundation of your life?
