Sunday Recap 6.21.09 Father’s Day Edition

After spending last week at Myrtle Beach with family, I am feeling much more recharged and refocused. Sunday was a great day with family and at church.

  • Week 6 of our txt series was on Biblical manhood. I believe so strongly that male leadership is absolutely essential for the foundations of a home, church, community and nation. That isn’t to belittle the female spirit, but it’s the Biblical order. I didn’t want to beat men down today but rather to call them to step up. Got lots of good feedback about the message.
  • 1 more week of txt next week. Can’t wait to talk about the Holy Spirit.
  • Next week is going to be incredible! We’ll wrap up our series, celebrate the Lord’s Supper together, and then have our first ever baptism service at Panther Creek at 5:00 pm! I’m so pumped for us all to get a chance to celebrate life-change! If you’re interested in baptism but haven’t registered, let us know this week.
  • Crowd was a little down but it was a strong attendance today for Father’s Day. I pray for a day when we’re able to expect record crowds for worship on Father’s Day because men are leading their families to Jesus and to church! Sadly that isn’t the case in America right now.
  • I said in the service that I appreciate the men of Arrowhead so much. Many bust their tails to do setup at 7:30 when they could sleep in and go to church at 200 other places in Morristown. Many stay late to tear down. Many serve with kids. Many lead small groups. We are laying a foundation!
  • Tyler and the band kept it pretty upbeat today. I even heard a few claps in the congregation. We are getting crazy. Ha.
  • I love it when people visit church 1-2 times and start speaking in first person about “their church” and what “we’re” doing as a church. Heard that a few times today.
  • Also had a few guests I wouldn’t expect to see back…I guess you either love us or hate us! We’re definitely not the only church in town! I do think it’s great though when people give us multiple looks before deciding if Arrowhead is a fit for them.
  • There are many reasons why doing church in a portable setting is difficult, but one reason I love it is I get to meet someone almost every week who comes in to Rose Center after we’re done for some other event. Where else do you get to meet unchurched people right there in your church building?

HaveĀ  a great week! It’s gonna be a busy one for me, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I thank God for calling us to start this church!
